Phase II Environmental Site Assessments & Remediation Services

Our technical specialists have specific and extensive expertise in completing Phase II ESAs involving the investigation and assessment of soil, bedrock, groundwater, surface water and sediment at sites impacted by such contaminants as:
  • Petroleum hydrocarbons, related to past or present aboveground or underground storage tanks (ASTs or USTs), gas stations, waste oil used as a dust suppressant, etc.
  • Chlorinated solvents, such as trichloroethylene (TCE) and trichloroethane (TCA) related to activities such as industrial degreasing operations, and perchloroethylene (PCE) related to activities such as dry cleaning operations
  • Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), related to older transformers and other liquid-cooled electrical equipment
  • Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), such as creosote from wood preserving sites, coal tar related to historic coal gasification plants, or due to fires or other forms of incomplete combustion
  • Heavy metals, such as lead, mercury, arsenic, chromium, nickel and zinc, related to metal refineries and smelters, chrome-plating facilities, tanneries, scrapyards, imported fill materials and general industrial operations

Our Phase II ESAs are completed for a variety of reasons, including the need to evaluate the extent of potential environmental contaminant issues from on-site and/or off-site sources, and to establish a baseline condition prior to occupancy of a property.

Watters Environmental Group also has significant experience in developing and implementing cost-effective remediation programs, including the use of risk assessments to develop site specific clean-up criteria and risk management plans.

We have the technical expertise to assist our clients in managing day-to-day environmental issues, including:

  • PCB surveys
  • AST and UST management
  • Asbestos and mould surveys and abatement monitoring
  • Contaminated soils/ground water delineation and remediation
  • Designated substances and hazardous materials surveys
