Mould in Buildings

Mould has becoming an increasing concern over the past number of years, as the health effects on building occupants are now being better understood. Watters Environmental Group can assist you in identifying the mould conditions in your buildings, as we have conducted hundreds of Mould Assessments in various types of buildings across the country. We carry out these assessments by following industry-published guidelines, such as the Canadian Construction Association, Health Canada and American Conference of Government Industrial Hygienists publications, to name a few. Our thorough assessments are conducted by visual and olfactory evaluations, collection of surface tape-lift, bulk and air samples, and the use of various tools such as moisture meters and infrared instruments.

We have also conducted numerous Mould Abatement Projects, ranging from small areas within the basement of a residential dwelling to a full abatement of a 15-storey commercial building which had significant mould growth due to exterior building envelope leak issues. We also provide Mould Awareness Training to site staff to assist them in better understanding the issues with mould in buildings, how to deal with it depending on the amount of mould growth present, and how to minimize the potential for future growth. With an understanding of the conditions through a Mould Assessment, Watters Environmental Group can assist you in abating the mould growth in specific areas of the building and/or properly managing the mould in the building as a whole.
